“I can honestly say that the training provided at your academy has been a more effective weapon in my fight against depression and anxiety than any medications or therapy I’ve had.”

“Since I have been training, I feel so fit and healthy that I don’t know how I survived without it. The instructors are great and very helpful. As you know I have already had to use some Kung Fu for self-defense. If I didn’t know what to do, God knows what could have happened. Overall I find the academy a great place to go to and I always look forward to coming in.”

“I started at the academy to improve my fitness, shape up my body and follow an old interest in martial arts. I found a family first, a group of great people who quickly became a group of mates and I’ve been learning something new every day ever since. I’m 35 years old and never been this fit in my life.”

          Find Your Answers Here

Couldn’t find what you were looking for?

          write to us at admin@chinesekungfu.com.au

          • Do I need any experience to start?

None at all. We welcome complete beginners with open arms. Every master you see in our lineage started exactly where you are now, at the beginning. We meet you where you are and build from there.

          • Can I learn Kung Fu online effectively?

Yes, absolutely. We have designed our online programs specifically for remote learners, with clear step-by-step instructions that guide you through each movement with the same care and detail we bring to our in-person classes. Thousands of years of knowledge, delivered straight to you — wherever you are in the world.

          • How is this different from YouTube videos?

YouTube gives you fragments. We give you a complete, structured path taught by a master with decades of authentic lineage training behind him. Our courses follow the same traditional curriculum we teach at our academy in Perth — nothing watered down, nothing left out.

          • How long does it take to see progress?

Most students notice real changes in their coordination, focus, and confidence within the first few weeks. Kung Fu rewards consistent practice — the more you put in, the more you get out. We are in this with you for the long journey, not just the quick win.

          • Is your training traditional or modernised?

We place a strong emphasis on preserving traditional methods without watering them down. Sifu George has spent decades ensuring we teach these arts in their raw and authentic form, exactly as the masters passed them down.

          • Is this just about fighting?

Not at all. We see Kung Fu as a journey of mind, body, and character. Personal development, lifelong learning, and inner strength sit at the heart of everything we teach

          • What is the difference between Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Qigong?

Kung Fu is a dynamic martial art focused on combat technique and physical conditioning. Tai Chi emphasises flowing movement, internal strength, and mind-body harmony. Qigong focuses on breathing, energy cultivation, and health — though all three complement each other and we teach all of them here.

          • What is Choy Lay Fut Buk Sing?

It is a Chinese martial art known for its aggressive, wide-stance fighting techniques, long-range hand movements, and effectiveness against multiple opponents. Grandmaster Tarm Sarm developed the Buk Sing lineage, and it has passed down through generations to Sifu George.

          • What is Chen Tai Chi?

Chen Tai Chi is the oldest and most dynamic style of Tai Chi, combining flowing movement with deep internal strength. We teach it in its traditional form, with lineage connections to internationally recognised masters.

          • What is Lohan Qigong?

Lohan Qigong is an ancient system from the Shaolin Temple, historically kept secret for hundreds of years. We teach the 18 Lohan system — known for its therapeutic and health benefits — through a direct lineage connection to Grand Master Chen Yong Fa.

          • How are the courses structured?

Our courses follow a clear progression through levels, just as our in-person students experience. Each level builds on the last, introducing new techniques, forms, and concepts as you grow in confidence and ability. You always know where you are and where you are headed.

          • How long do I get access to the training?

You have lifetime access, so once you join, the content is yours to return to whenever you need it. Kung Fu is a lifelong journey and we want you to be able to revisit, refine, and deepen your practice at any time.

          • Can I train at my own pace?

Absolutely. Our online programs are self-paced by design. Life gets busy — we get that. Train early in the morning, late at night, or whenever suits you. The only rule is to keep showing up.

          • Who is Sifu George Michielsen?

Sifu George began training in 1977 under Masters Vince and Dave Lacey, who pioneered Kung Fu in Perth in 1966. He has spent decades travelling to Hong Kong, China, and beyond to train directly under grandmasters and preserve these arts in their authentic form.

          • How long have you been running?

We opened our Balcatta school in August 1995, giving us over 30 years of history in Perth
